Can you imagine yourself hunched over a workbench for umpteen hours, hammering, tapping, shaping, and otherwise cajoling a sheet of sterling silver into this amazing bowl? Neither can we. Our necks get a kink just thinking about the skill and patience it took to make this. But an artisan in old Persia did just that. And we're thrilled to enjoy the result.
This is a gorgeous old silver Persian bowl, ornately embossed with wild animals, palm trees and flower trees, and there's a human in there too. The top has a ruffled edge and there's a band of engraved fish swimming around the top and around the base too. The more you look at this, the more you'll see.
The bowl measures 6 1/4 by 5 inches across the top. It's 2 1/8 inches high. The bottom is engraved with two peacocks. This may be the artist's hallmark and it's definitely unique. The bowl weighs 114.4 grams. It has been acid-tested for sterling silver. It's just perfect with its extraordinary workmanship. And admiring it doesn't cause any neck kinks at all.
