It's smart, sassy and savvy. This 1940s handbag is all that PLUS it'll carry whatever you've got (within reason).
The oval shaped box bag has a hard body that's completely covered in tiny glass bronze-tone seed beads, even on the bottom. The handle with a twist is also beaded to match. And then there's the Lucite top! It's like the cherry on the sundae, the icing on the cake, the pickle on the slider. It's what makes this bag such a retro prize.
The Lucite top looks like Bakelite or Catalin. The color is a deep rich rusty paprika root beer color. It works perfectly with the glints in the beads.
The handbag measures 7 1/4 by 3 1/2 inches. It's 5 3/4 inches high. The center of the handle measures 4 1/2 inches high from top of bag. The inside is lined in dark satin with a side pocket. There are two round mirrors on the inside of the lid so you look twice as good. There are a few stitches in the lining close to where it meets the Lucite...looks like someone did a stitch in time to save nine. The top shows a few minor scuffs in keeping with age.
Overall, this handbag is in excellent vintage condition. It's sturdy with a good handle, good brass hinges, and a working brass snap closure. Most of all, it's got a great look.
