c1920s Egyptian Revival Celluloid & Etched Metal Belt Buckle

The discovery of Tutankhamen's tomb in 1922, set off a mania for Egyptian motifs. This original belt buckle from the era is made of hard celluloid plastic. Each half features an etched metal classic Egyptian scene. It has an Art Deco look, not surprising since Art Deco was partly inspired by Egyptian design.

The buckle measures 3 1/2 inches across by 1 1/2 inches high. Each side has two small holes to fasten to fabric or metal. This buckle would make a great clasp for a necklace. It has a secure hook and eye clasp. Minimal age wear. The metal can be polished but we leave it to buyer to decide. Overall in excellent condition.
