Big Old USSR Hammered Plaque Pendant w/ King Necklace

Warning...this WILL incite conversation. This is not your dainty little neck dangle. Au contraire, it's a big, bold, mysterious pendant that's marked MADE IN USSR. (That's when Russia was still Communist and the Cold War was raging.)

What we know about this...it's made of silvertone hammered metal that has either darkened with age or is anodized with the blackened patina (we think it's the latter). The metal doesn't stick to a magnet and it doesn't test for sterling though it LOOKS like it is.

The plaque measures 4 inches across. There's an applied King's head attached via chain to either a symbolic sun or a sunflower. There are letters along the King's head. After a long search to find the mystery King and letters, we came up with zilch. We could find no such King with love birds in his crown. No matter. We'll call him 'King of all Pendants'.

The large medallion hangs from a sturdy multi-link chain reserved for holding up Royalty. The chain measures 18 inches around. Total weight is 7.8 ounces. The pendant/necklace is in excellent condition. We think it's spectacular and from what we can tell, there's not another like it on the planet. (Maybe a Russian artist's old studio piece?)
