Signed 1950s Mexican Taxco Sterling Silver & Tigereye Poison Pill Ring

It's just amazing how much work went into this vintage 'poison pill' ring. This was made circa 1950s in Taxco Mexico. It's handmade of 925 sterling silver and set with a genuine tigereye cabochon. The design includes twisted silver rope, raised balls, and spiraling rings. The tigereye stone sits on the lid that opens up on a hinge. Inside, there's the tiny compartment to hold the 'poison pill'. Some baby aspirin will fit too if you opt for the less 'dramatic' effect.

The ring is adjustable. As shown, it fits a size 7.5 but you can close it up for a smaller finger or expand it for a larger size. The top measures 1 inch in length by 3/4 inch across. There are several markings inside including the maker's name...JESUS, TAX - MEX - 925. (This silversmith is listed on page 81 of the 'Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks.)

There's some normal age tarnish in and around the pillbox which will polish up though some prefer the original aged patina. Stone is intact. This pre-owned vintage ring is overall in excellent condition.
