1885 Victorian Book IDYLS OF THE MONTHS Poems and Drawings Pin-Up Lithos

Such beauties! This 1885 book is titled IDYLS OF THE MONTHS - POEMS AND DRAWINGS BY MARY A. LATHBURY. This folio features 12 poetry text leaves on heavy buff card stock with 12 color chromolith illustrations of Victorian women in various modes of dress and environments fitting the months each represents. The author has written a verse for each month's birthstone, including a depiction of each astrological sign.

The colors are vivid...each one of these illustrations would be worthy of framing. They measure 7 by 10 1/4 inches. The book is bound at the top with two holes and a ribbon. The pages lift up. The cover has taken the brunt of the 126 years...it has some tape, edge wear and stains. The back cover also shows some age soil. The good news is that the inside pages are all fine...nothing to detract from the lovely ladies.

Book was published in New York by George Routledge & Sons. It's a pretty and elaborate book, written and illustrated by Lathbury. These are gorgeous pin-up girls...Victorian style.
