TWO 9" German Bisque Early Dolls c1917 WWI SOLDIER G.M.S.Nr.90877 Slide Toy

Two 9" WWI SOLDIERS stand at attention on their wooden base and when the longer piece of wood is slid to the right, they turn in unison on their little pedestals, ready to march; the toy is in very excellent condition, all-original & complete - from their tin helmets & epaulets to their soft-metal rifles & swords.

The men have perfect bisque heads incised "56 - 17", with factory-set blue glass eyes, painted all-around lashes, dark brows, rosy cheeks, open mouths with molded teeth, and original curly blonde mohair wigs with their helmets glued on top; jointed at neck, shoulders & hips, bodies are composition with molded low-heel boots painted black.

Officer & Soldier are in dress/parade uniforms of grey flannel with full 'kit' including backpack with bed-roll, and their helmets bear the Kaiser's eagle, and they wear quite authentic cartridge belts~ (some fringe from the Officer's epaulets is off); their round bases extend into a doll-stand to keep the men in place and in perfect posture.

The base works easily to spin the men from face-forward to march with a simple slide of the elongated piece, which is impressed "G.M.S.Nr. 90877". The dolls and toy were made in Germany and are quite an interesting and rare find for collectors of WWI memorabilia, and it comes from a non-smoking environment.
