Gorgeous and early, this large 13-1/2" long made in London of sterling silver. This grand PUNCH LADLE bears the date stamp for 1832, and hallmarks “WC (in rectangle) – lion passant – leopard head – r (date stamp) – King George head”. Made by London silversmith William Chawner II, the Punch Ladle measures 13 ½” long, 4” wide and 1 ½” deep, and weighs 8.2 troy ozs. Hand-engraved on the handle front is a lion’s foreleg with an arrow clutched in its paw – most likely an ancient crest; from the original family, non-smoking home.
