S & E Sterling Incredible Standing Mirror & Jewelry Box

Custom made specifically for the original owner, the aesthetic monogram “GTF” is worked into the overall pattern of beautifully chased swirling acanthus leaves and dainty blossoms. Most of the pieces are near-mint and marked: “ MERRICK // Whelan Aehle-Hutchinson // Sterling // S & E (hallmarks)”. Specifics listed below with measurements:

STANDING VANITY MIRROR = NM = beveled mirror in swivel frame on stand (very slight crackling in the mirror silvering). Overall measurements are 13.5” wide, 15.5” high & 4.25” deep, with mirror 10” tall and 8” wide in 12” by 10” sterling frame.

DRESSER TRAY = NM = 11” across, 8” top to bottom and .75” to 1” deep (shallowest 1/32” indentation in the center)

JEWELRY BOX = MINT = exact matching pattern & quality workmanship, but different markings: “131 // Sterling // S & E (hallmarks)”; 7” wide, 5.5” front-to-back and 3.25” high. The interior is fully lined in emerald-green velvet with a removable fitted tray with space for bracelets and eight rings, with the interior bottom measuring 6.25” wide, 5” front-to-back and 1.5” deep. With a tiny key valuables can be locked inside.

WOOD-LINED BOX = MINT = exact matching pattern & quality workmanship, but different markings: “STERLING // 925 FINE” in a circle around “F & B” in a tiny flag hallmark. The box is 5” wide, 4” front-to-back and 2” high; inside is 4” wide, 3.5” front-to-back and 1 3/8” deep. Lined in thin slabs of fine mahogany, base piece is removable, gold-wash inside lid. With a tiny key the owner would be able to lock valuables inside.

BRUSH, COMB & HAND-MIRROR = NM brush and hand-mirror; good condition comb (replaced comb in the sterling band; replaced brush bristles circa 1950). The brush and hand-mirror are marked: “ Sterling // S & E (hallmarks)”. Brush is 8.75” long, 1.5” high with the bristles and 2.75” at the widest; the handle is firm and sturdy enough for use. Mirror is 7.25” long with the ring handle and 5.5” wide with original beveled mirror inside; 7 3/8” long comb

NAIL BUFFER & TRAY = NM = buffer marked: “ Sterling” and tray is marked “ Sterling // S & E (hallmarks)”. The handle on the buffer is firm and sturdy enough for use, kid leather wraps the buffing surface, which fits perfectly into the holding tray.

GINGER JAR-SHAPED POWDER POT = MINT = also hand-scribed “760”. Jar is 4” wide, 4” front-to-back and 3.75” high with 13” circumference

TALCUM POWDER SHAKER = MINT = 4.25” high and 2.25” across, with 5.75” circumference of the body.

4” POWDER POT = EX = 4” across and 2.5” high, with 11.5” circumference of the body (there are four less-than-1/8” splits in the rim-edge of the lid caused during tooling of the silver – exactly within portions of the design, and three more that were soldered at the time of making. A 1/2” wide very shallow dent is on the bottom edge near the markings)

2.5” ROUGE POT = MINT = 2.5” across and 1.25” high, with 7” circumference of the body; original heavy glass liner.

VANITY BOTTLES & TOOLS = all EX+ = All marked “Sterling” : two fluted crystal toilet water or Perfume Bottles with screw-on sterling lids (plus a third sterling lid) = 4” tall, 1.75” across, 5.25” circumference; Powder-Brush = also has “S & E (hallmarks)”original soft horsehair bristles in a firm & sturdy sterling handle measures 6” long and 3.75” wide, with 3”bristles. Nail File = steel file on sterling handle = 7” long; Cuticle Tool = steel blade on sterling handle = 4.75” long; Steel Button Hook on sterling handle = 7 3/8” long; all handles are .75” wide.
