14.5" UNCLE SAM All-Original Character C&O Dressel 1896

14-1/2" Uncle Sam is exceptionally fine with early-out-of-the-mold crispness to his molding. He's in excellent to near-mint condition with his original mohair wig and goatee! Head incised only "S 3" and Uncle Sam's face is so expressive with many molded smile lines accentuated with blushing and some thin red lines, extra-fine painted lashes, bushy molded grey brows, exaggerated smiling closed mouth and long pointed nose. Big blue spiral glass set eyes make his expression kind. The wood and composition body is jointed at neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees and hips. Uncle Sam mold was also used for farmers, etc., and this one is dressed as a country preacher or farmer in his best and only black wool suit: long pants with silk ribbon suspenders, top-coat with a hankie in one tiny pocket, and a vest. Underneath it all is a crisp linen tux-front shirt, black cotton knit stockings and black oilcloth ankle-tie shoes. A newer felt bowler hat finishes his costume; from original-family, non-smoking home.
