8.25"x 13.75" Greek Revival Accent Mirror Dated 1868

Made by a superb craftsman and veneered in beautiful walnut, this small accent mirror has design characteristics in the Greek Revival style – with pedimented top and columnar shape. The piece is in excellent condition for its age, with no peeling or damage to the veneer, although the silvering of the mirror is slightly streaky and has a few spots, which just adds to the overall elegance. A partial printed label in German on the cardboard backing reads: "Vald: Kleif. // 1868. // Vesterbrogade.V. 58. // Kunstudstilling." There are also partial words on the label along with meandering garlands of tiny flowers. The outside measurements of the frame are 13.75" tall, 8.25" wide and almost 1" deep. Mirror measures 8" tall and 5" wide. Old starched string through two large screw eyes serves as a hanger at upper back. This really is a lovely little piece for hallway or vignette.
