Magnificent 4" long sterling silver Salamander brooch. This lizard brooch is a replica to the Salamander brooch that was designed by Kenneth J Lane in 1988. It has the same design as his from the cabochons on it's head & back to the shape of it's legs, to it's curved tail, but this one has gold wash & the colors are different & there are no diamonds, emeralds or rubies & it is not signed by Mr Lane. The picture of Kenneth J Lane's brooch can be seen in the book "Faking It" on page 92.
This brooch is encrusted with faux Diamond & Emerald rhinestones, two cabochon faux pearls & gold wash over sterling (we tested for sterling 2 x's & both times it came up positive for sterling). This cutie is in excellent condition except some of the gold wash has worn off in some areas exposing the silver. He has Ruby red eyes, emerald green rhinestones on his tail & his body is covered with large & medium size faux diamonds. All of the rhinestones are very bright & dazzling. He is very well made with lots of detail as you can see from my pictures. I can not find a signature but this lizard pin/brooch also looks similar to the lizard brooch designed by Reja, so it possibly could be an unsigned Reja.
This adorable Salamander measures 4" long x 6/8" wide at the middle. There is a spin clasp which works great & holds tight. The total gram weight for the brooch is 36 grams.
I fell in love with this Salamander brooch when I saw it & I sure hate to part with it. I have seen a few others on the net but none were a large or as magnificent as this one. You will no doubt get remarks when you wear this stunning brooch!
