Here for your consideration is a Bauer Pottery decoarated kitchen canister set, 7 pieces, c. 1940's - 1950's. They are unmarked, hand painted, in very good used condition, no cracks, chips, crazing, staining or repairs with the exception of the pepper shaker [heavy crazing, staining, missing stopper] and the "Sugar 'N Spice 'N' everything Nice" canister [interior bottom has several spider web-like craze lines w/staining, not glaringly obvious] and the "For your clove of garlic" canister [has tiny glaze chips along the rim in several places, seen only under close inspection]. The wooden lids have some residual kitchen grease [I have cleaned them up some with hot soapy water]. SEE PHOTOS FOR DETAILS.
I have attempted to describe the condition of each piece as accurately as possible. Please do not hesitate to ask questions or for additional photos.
It has been speculated that the majority of the pieces resembling the hand painted homey hand-letter phrases, descriptive phrases or descriptive monograms were performed by Walter and Olga Klages at their studio located in Flintridge, California. It would stand to reason that other artist would have been involved to sustain a reasonable output for a high demand. It appears that some items were exclusives, as they were not part of the general Bauer line.
