Mid-19th Century English Stoneware Relief-Moulded Jug – Death of Abel – by Edward Walley

A green/gray stoneware reliev-moulded jug entitled "Death of Abel." Jug is marked for Edward Walley, Cobridge, Staffordshire (1845-1856). Diameter of base 4 ¾ inches. Height 10 inches. There is an old crack at handle base but it doesn't extend all the way through. No repairs. Excellent condition. References: Godden #3988; R.K. Henry Wood, "Relief-moulded Jugs 1820-1900," pp. 96-105.
