French Morbier Antique 1850 Farmhouse Wall Clock

A French farmhouse wall clock from about 1850 has an brass dial surround embossed with farm animals, and is signed "Plantier fils" (sons) of "Annonay."

This ancient hill town is south of Lyon near the Rhone River. It is famous for the first hot air balloon flight by the Montgolfier brothers.

An 8 day brass "Morbier" design movement has been professionally cleaned and oiled, it keeps excellent time and strikes the hour and the half hour. The winding crank is a modern replacement. There are hairline cracks on the porcelain dial, see photos. Later iron brackets are adjustable for leveling this antique timepiece from France.

The case is 11" wide, 6" deep and height of the case including the original lyre pendulum is 5'.
