This Little Bo Peep pottery pitcher was made by the Shawnee Pottery Company, Zanesville, Ohio, in operation only from 1937 to 1961. I believe this pitcher was made in the 1940s.
Colors are vibrant, with a lavender bonnet, a green border on her jacket, golden ringlets in her hair, and beautifully painted facial details. She has an embossed bow at the back of her head, with embossed flowers on each side. Any dark areas shown on her hat and front of dress are only shadows.
Base is marked Patented Bo Peep U.S.A. Pitcher measures 8 inches high. There are a few stray bits of paint under glaze near the base. Surface is bright and glossy, with no cracks, chips, hairlines or scratches.
A lovely example of the lavender hat Bo Peep.
