This antique 19th century walnut and burl-wood dresser, table or vanity box or chest features a framed original early mirror inside the lid. These boxes, made for both men and women, originally held a lift out tray, and date mid to late 1800s.
This miniature chest features a stepped base and a beveled top with an elevated center panel. Sides and top have burled wood and multi-color banded inlays. Box measures 13 inches wide, 9 inches front to back and 6 3/4 inches high.
Original hinges in place and working fine. Keyhole at front and lock in place, but we do not have the original key.
Box has some appropriate tiny imperfections and small losses, with an indent on the right side back under the lid that remains very sound. One tiny piece of inlay replaced on the center top left front corner.
A sound and sturdy antique box, with beautiful form, that has survived in wonderful condition.
