Vintage Handy Darner and Needle Case Dispenser Wooden Egg Treen

We are offering this very sweet combination darner and dispenser needle case. Front of case is marked Handy Darner And Needle Case, a trademark cartouche in the center with Handy Newark NJ and a star. Below that is Pat. Appd. For. I would estimate a date from early 1900s to 1920s.

It is a hard wood case, with original shine to the finish and measures 2 3/4 inches high and 1 3/4 to 2 inches wide. Top is screwed in place, has a hole in the top to dispense needles and has a number 0. The top of the case itself has the word shut and numbers 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, corresponding to needle sizes. In the shut position, there is no possibility of any needles being accidentally ejected.

Back of case has Directions: To Get Needles Out Turn Zero Mark To Number Desired. After following their directions, turn it over and needle will dispense thru the hole.

Some of the directions and markings on front have faded over the years, but even the faded is still readable on close inspection. Condition is very good, with only a few minor dings.
