Stepback Cupboard Elm 19th Century Mid 1800s Narrow Width Antique Vintage
It has a very substantial cornice or crown molding, with an outward slant at the top. The total depth is 17 inches, so it extends out nicely over the top cupboard.
Sides are constructed with a 13 1/4 inch board, which is uncommon. Square nail construction is evident on the original cupboard back. Doors have through mortise and tenon construction.

Bottom doors have slight warping. Top has wooden turn knob to hold doors securely closed. We have added a matching one to the base. One shelf inside the top has dark staining, rings, etc.
Top section has a lower shelf, plus 5 additional shelves. Base section has a lower shelf, plus 2 additional shelves.
This is a fabulous early cupboard, uncommon, and is in wonderful sound condition. It retains the old finish, with appropriate wear, and warping at the cornice crest.
