Exquisite corset shape Nippon porcelain muffineer sugar shaker decorated with a band of strawberries nestled among polychrome leaves tinged with hues of pink and blue and framed within an elaborate gold beaded border.
The shoulder and foot is decorated with a stylized floral band having a soft green ground and picked out in gold gilt tracery and gold granular decoration. The scarce muffin shaped top has a granular gold beaded frame around each of the shaker holes and terminates in a gold beaded and scalloped gilt rim.
Stands approximately 6.25 inches tall. No damage or restoration. Blue maple leaf backstamp along with the words Hand Painted dates from about 1891. This is one of the very finest examples of Nippon muffineer sugar shakers that we have had the privilege to offer, and you will be delighted. This could also be used to hold your antique hat pins.
