From respected Birmingham silversmith Deakin & Francis is this spectacular white guilloche enameled sterling silver powder compact. The compact is hallmarked in two locations with the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, and the Birmingham date mark for 1950 – inside the compact on the lid of the powder compartment and on the bottom of the compartment. The latter also has the D&F mark for Deakin & Francis.
The compact, which measures 2 ¾" square, has beveled edges, accented with sterling dividers. A hand-painted floral design decorates the top with forget-me-nots, English Wild Dog roses and ferns. The compact is in excellent condition. The top appears perfect. The bottom has a couple of light scratches and a couple of pencil-point sized dings. Inside is also excellent with an undamaged mirror. The clasps and hinges are in good working order.
Deakin & Francis was founded in 1786 and is still operating today.
