Limoges Porcelain Bearded Iris 13" Charger Plate
This Limoges porcelain charger will take your breath away with its beautiful design and exquisitely painted purple bearded iris with gilt accents, a very pale green background, green leaves, and a heavily gilded scalloped rim. It shows a perfect balance between the shape of the plate and the art nouveau arrangement of the flowers, taking advantage of its enormous size so that the iris are just about actual size and appear so life-like, yet a fine work of art. This is sure to be the centerpiece of a collection! It is marked on the reverse with the artist's initials "A. W."--wish we knew who he/she was, because this person should be recognized for his superb artwork. The green "Limoges France" mark dates this place to after 1891. It is in perfect condition--no chips, cracks, or loss to the paint.
