Exquisite Antique Gold and Parrot Tulips Hand Painted Vase
The origin of this vase is somewhat of a mystery. The vase is marked Morris China Co, with a second line that has disappeared over time. We have consulted with experts, including museum curators, in the Limoges and American Belleek fields to try to nail down the origins. All agree that this vase is of the highest quality and of remarkable beauty. The blank is a known Limoges blank. The Morris China Co mark on the base is, to the best of their knowledge, probably that of a professional decorating studio of the period. We know that W. T. Morris was one of the founders of the Columbian Art Pottery in 1893, producing excellent examples of American Belleek. Whether he was also associated with the Morris China Co is unknown but cannot be ruled out. Thus, whether decorated for one of the American Belleek or Limoges companies remains a mystery. We would welcome further information from anyone knowledgeable on the maker.
