Early Tin LithographAdvertising Pail
THIS LITTLE PIG
Lovell and Covel Candy c 1920

This is a fabulous, scarce tin litho advertising pail c1920. It stands 2-3/4 inche tall and 2-3/4 inches in diameter. The pail recites the lyrics of the much beloved child's nursery rhyme, which is illustrated around the perimeter of the pail:

THIS LITTLE PIG WENT TO MARKET
THIS LITTLE PIG STAYED HOME
THIS LITTLE PIG ATE ROAST BEEF
THIS LITTLE PIG HAD NONE
AND THIS LITTLE PIG
CRIED WEE WEE
ALL THE WAY HOME

The pail, complete with its bail handle, was originally made and sold with its contents of Lovell and Covel Candy. Made of tin with outstanding lithograph imagery by the American Can Company, the pail is marked "CANCO" on the bottom.
The pail is in great condition. Light wear and a bit of grime in the seams, consistent with the age of the piece. The original silver finish can be found on the bottom and interior.The lid is original and perfect. This great little pail is a treasure that would be prized by any child (or inner child), a must for any collection of early tin litho pails! If you're only going to buy one tin litho pail in your lifetime, this whimsical little piece should be the one!
