Childs Mulberry Lustre Floral Tea Set c1840 Dimmock 'Pattern F' Staffordshire Flow Blue - image 1 of 15

Child’s Mulberry Lustre Imari Floral Tea Set Flow Blue
PATTERN No. F
Thomas Dimmock Staffordshire, England c 1840

This is a scarce miniature child's transferware tea set, circa 1840. The color of the set is a rich and earthy mulberry or dark flow blue decorated with a classic Imari influenced floral design with decorative cross hatching on the edges, finished with wisps of iron red and orange and caramel lustre.
These very early pieces are exact miniature versions of the adult-sized Masons or Ashworth Imari style tea sets made in the same patterns, with fancy shaped bases handles and finials.

The set is comprised of:
· TEAPOT with lid, 3-3/4 inches tall, 5-1/2 inches long (small glaze chip on side of spout tip);
· SUGAR with lid, 3 inches tall, 4-1/2 inches across (chip inside lid;
· WASTE BOWL, 2-1/2 inches tall, 4-1/4 inches across top rim;
· TWO CUPS, 2 inches tall and TWO SAUCERS, 4-1/2 inches across; and
· TWO DESSERT PLATES 5-7/8 incehs in diameter

Some of the pieces from the set marked with the impressed monogram of Thomas Dimmock, a pottery manufacturer in the Staffordshire region of England who made adult sized transfer printed wares from 1828 - 1859. He made only a few of these miniature tea sets. The decorators mark 1/4262 is painted on each piece. The pattern name ‘Pattern No. F’ is printed on the underside of one saucer.

The set is in great condition with only the minor exceptions mentioned above. Stilt marks, tiny firing separations, other typical flaws original to the making. No other chips cracks or repairs. Very few of the usual minor imperfections. We have attempted to be 100% accurate in listing the condition issues; if you require additional detailed information or more photos, please contact us. The condition is outstanding considering the age of the set and use by generations of children.

Miniature tea sets and early table wares in early transferware patterns are hard to find and highly sought after in such great condition! The set will make a stunning addition to any collection of children's dishes, and would also make a fantastic and unique doll house accessory.
