EARLY DOUBLE ALPHABET ABC PLATE
Mary and her Lambs
Staffordshire England c. 1860
This 7 1/2 " plate has a crisp image transfer printed in brown and a red piping along the rim as well as hand painting in cherry red, blue and green under the glaze.
In addition to the entire ABC alphabet impressed along the perimeter of the plate, there is the entire alphabet transferred along the edge of the well of the plate. There is a wonderful transfer scene of Mary and her young sister in a field with two Lambs. Delightful imagination !
Excellent condition and appears to have never been use. Normal stilt marks. Displays beautifully.
