This 3 high x 3 wide, excluding the applied handle, children's mug is transfer printed in dark blue green with a pearlware glaze. One of the earliest sets in ABC wares.

One side has an upper case letter ~ A ~ with animals, Elephant, Lion, and Tiger. The other side of the mug has an upper ~ B ~ with a Bear dancing on his hind legs. Scrolled swags surround each scene.

The mug is in very good condition. This is one of the earliest series of children's ABC mugs, very primitive and naive. Mugs like these were given as gifts to children on special occasions and were used as educational tools, as well. A lovely addition to your ABC collection.
