ABC Alphabet Plate ~ Rolling Stone 1850

J. & G. MEAKIN POTTERIES ~ Staffordshire England ~ c. 1850

This small 5 3/8 " alphabet plate has a crisp image transfer printed in luscious jet black with great four color polychrome hand painting, clobbering in shades of red, golden yellow, green and cobalt blue. A band of red surrounds the impressed Alphabet and clover leaf border.

The central transfer is perfectly applied showing all the fine detail and is hand painted in vivid colors. Three removes are as bad as a fire ~ A rolling stone gathers no moss

Condition is EXCELLENT. No chips, cracks or repairs. Plates like these were given as gifts to children on special occasions and were used as educational tools, as well. A lovely addition to your ABC collection. The image is part of the Franklin's Proverbs series coveted by collectors.
