Rare Occupational ABC Mug ~ Letter T 1850

ANTIQUE CHILDS ALPHABET ABC MUG

LETTER T WAS A TINKER

Staffordshire England ~ c. 1850

This 3 " high x 3 " wide, excluding the applied handle, childrens mug is transfer printed in red with underglaze hand painting in shades of green, red and orange yellow.

This finely potted very lightweight child's mug has a transfer print of the letter " T " in upper case. A Tinker sits upon his bench with tools in hand mending a pot between his legs. An attentive young boy, possibly his apprentice watches the Tinker at his task.

T WAS A TINKER AND MENDED A POT

The mug is in very good condition with three stilt marks along the rim and an underglaze tiny chip along the base. Lightly transfered, bright and clean. The subject matter make this a very desirable mug for the collector of early children's pottery.
