This is such an unusual vintage music player. It is from an estate in Hawaii whose owners were world travelers and collectors. However, I cannot tell if this piece was purchased or made at home.We do know it is hand-made. It is about 6" tall and 3 3/4" at the widest place. It features a Russian dressed boy who stands in a field of beads, hat pins, metal leaves and decorative circles. The base is a felt covered music maker and the top is a blue thread covered circle.
On the bottom is a signature and a stamped, "Around the World in 80 Days" title for the music maker. It is wound with a key that screws in, then turns and has to be removed to set level.
Where do you find one of these? Just a completely unusual item for a collector.
Thanks for looking. Please feel free to ask for more information.
