This is a beautiful and unusual unsigned David Smallhouse blown vase. It was purchased from the artist himself. I believe it is experimental as Smallhouse does experiment with color and design. The vase is 14 1/4" tall and about 5 1/4" across the opening. It is a heavy piece. It has touches of blue, orange and metallic mixes. The footed base is clear.
David Smallhouse began his career as a glassblower at a well known Northern California studio, Orient and Flume, where he worked for about 20 years. His designs represent a vibrant composite of his expression, enthusiasm and experience. He is shown in the Museum of Glass in Corning, NY as well as the Smithsonian and many fine galleries across the United States and Canada.
This lovely piece would work in a lone display or with other pieces and would certainly hold tall bouquets.
