Vintage Plique A Jour Cloisonne Ginger Jar with Stand Flower and Bird motif
Plique a Jour means "Letting in light" and this stunning transparent cloisonne piece does just that. It is made of fine wire filigree forming cells which are then filled with a translucent enamel. Unlike most Cloisonne, Plique a Jour has no brass base behind the enamel, it is simply a fine, fragile work of enameled art.
This piece is a turquoise blue in color with a large floral design on one side and a pair of beautiful birds on the other. The lid and base are accented with flowers too.
This small ginger jar shape measures 3 3/4" tall (not including the base) and 3" in diameter. It is a three piece set with the jar, lid and black wooden base. In excellent condition I can see no damage at all.
