Antique Bohemian Cut Crystal Pedestal Bowl Engraved Art Glass Circa 1840s

I am thrilled to offer you this hard to find piece of truly antique Bohemian crystal which was produced circa 1840s in the Czechoslovakian region of Europe. I have a few matching pieces of this crystal but this is by far the most grandiose. It is a large pedestal bowl which measures 8 1/4" in height and 8 1/2" in diameter. It would make a fabulous fruit bowl or addition to a collection.

Pieces of this age can be difficult to identify with any specific manufacturer but some design similarities to pieces by August Bohn have made me confident that it is a Bohemian design. The rim of the bowl has a beautiful double scallop with the engraved portion below and concave panels forming the bottom of the bowl. The stem is cut with panels and thumbprints. The base is cut into pointed "toes" and the bottom has a star or cross hatching between which are oval thumbprints.

This is a fabulous piece of antique glass which is in good condition. There are a few things to note as a piece of this age doesn't survive the years without some wounds. The tips of each point around the rim to have some small to medium chips. I have tried to show a photo with the worst shown. The base has some light wear and a few small nicks from age. The piece has no cracks. It would make a truly wonderful addition to any period home or bohemian glass collection.
