Antique Amethyst Hyacinth Vase Art Glass circa 1870s Sandwich Glass

This beautiful and antique Hyacinth Vase is a rich amethyst in color and was produced circa 1870s. It has many ear marks of the Sandwich glass vases of the period, but without exact provenance I cannot be sure if it was actually produced at the Sandwich factory.

Forcing Bulbs became popular in the Georgian era and maintained popularity through the Victorian era. Properly prepared bulbs can be forced for beautiful blooms through the winter holiday seasons, adding color and life to an other wise dark and dreary season.

This vase measures 8" tall with a base diameter of 3 1/2". The opening at the top is 2 3/4" in diameter.

This piece is in very good condition with no chips, nicks or cracks at all. It has a significant amount of base wear as one would expect on an antique piece. There are a few manufacturing flaws in the glass, including the stripe of a bubble near the rim (shown). There is a pontil in the center of the base.
