This beautiful vintage necklace consists of very thin threads of gold tone and silvertone metal bound together in streams of many layers and then woven together to form this intricate neck piece. The clasp is one of those old fashioned length of chain at one end and hook at the other. The necklace is 1-1/4 inches wide all the way to the end. It is 17-1/2 inches long but adjustable with the length of chain linkage at one end. This is supple but stiff. Hard to explain. It has a great deal of movement but it is solid. If you bend it through the length, it moves easily but if you try to bend it in the width, it is stiff. This piece is in excellent vintage condition and truly lovely and quite sophisticated. This may be an ethnic peace but I cannot prove it. It may also be influenced by the Egyptian Pharaoh's revival during the 1920s. I cannot find out anything about the necklace but it is most unusual and will definitely make a statement.
It is interesting to note that the reverse side is all gold tone metal thread so not sure how this was done. It does, however, make the necklace reversible.
The flash from my camera left bright spots on the center area of the necklace in the last photo. I apologize for that.
