Up front, I have to say there is a chip in the stone, however, the stone is such a black green color that unless you are really looking for it, you cannot see the chip. I am putting this in my store (chip and all) because it is such an unusual and stunning ring. The stone is glass or at least registers as glass when tested and is a huge round faceted affair that sits in a highly etched fluted cup of sterling silver. The ring is a size 9 and is marked .925 inside the band (tested as well). The stone can be popped out with a pointed instrument from the back opening on the inside of the ring and snaps back into the cup tightly but this is an FYI in case you have another stone you wish to put into the ring. The stone has a diameter of 1/2". If you need the millimeter size, I can get that, too. Other than the chip which is hard to see, the ring stone shows only very minor age related scratches and then only 2 of these which also can only be seen with a jeweler's loupe. The band and design on this sterling ring are quite different and really lovely. Cannot figure the age but probably from the 1980s or so. Weighs 5 grams.
