This is a lovely 1890's to early 1900's rectangular gold filled engraved locket decorated with small pastes. All the pastes appear to be in place but at least two of them are significantly recessed. The locket measures approximately 1 1/2 inches to the top of the bale and 3/4 of an inch wide. The locket opens up to reveal spaces for two small photographs. It appears to hold it's original photos which probably date to the 1890's or early 1900's. The interior frames holding the photos are both inscribed "JEB CO". "JEB CO" is the mark of James E. Blake Co., a silversmith, makers of sterling, silverplate, vanity items and jewelry. This is a very unusual and old locket. It would make a great gift or treat yourself to something special.
