We are very pleased to offer some of the most beautiful iron garden chairs that were ever made. They were first constructed in the 1860's and were designed by Francois A Carre of Paris France. His use of curved strips of sheet steel to form the backs and seats of the garden chairs, was considered a very innovative design. These chairs are known by several names, in the 1930'a they were called Deauville melon chairs. The Smithsonian has them in their gardens and they call them sunburst/ spring chairs. They are also known as starburst style chairs. They were produced until the 1920's in the United States. We have other sizes available in other ads. They are in great shabby chic condition, we haven't painted them because some people like them in this original condition.
