This very rare and scarce book of the soft paste porcelain produced by the Sevres Factory during the 18th century is a fantastic find. It has 50 full page highly gilt color chromolithographic plates illustrating tea sets, jardenieres , cups & saucers, vases and much more. It also contains an origin of the manufacturer of porcelain in Europe. It also has several pages of marks of painters, decrators and gilders from the Sevres factory. Before each color plate information is given about who painted the piece and whose personal collection it was in at that time. Such as the Baron Alphonse De Rothschild and H. M. The Queen. The book cover itself is not in the greatest condition and the main interior binding has broken loose from the pages but could be reattached. The main value of the book is to the porcelain collector. This is a great deal of valuable information contained in one very rare book. All of the 50 plates which contain 250 water color subjects after the originals are in fantastic condition. The colors are as vibrant and beautiful as the day the book was made. If someone wanted to, each of the color plates could be copied and framed. A great reference book, a great art book and a great way to view some of the most rare and beautiful porcelain ever made. Measures - 17" tall 13" - wide - 2" deep. It has the original cloth cover with gilt lettering and gilt edge on pages. One of these rare books just sold at an auction in London for $1,500.
