A fabulous large gloved hand with an ornate cuff at the wrist was cast in brass serves as a paperclip.
I've not come across one of these before - and it's great fun!
The base measures 7.5" x 3.5" and it sits 2" high at the top of the glove. There is a hanging loop at the base, I suppose so one could have left messages clipped to it, and that's one option --- but I visualize it on a desk, dresser or table top. The clip is sturdy and it will hold quite a pile of paper.
CONDITION: In overall fine antique condition for its' years on earth. One dint near the wrist on the side of the forefinger, some old solder on the underside which we can't figure out the reason for. Embossed in three lines with the Company Name and the city of Birmingham. I can't quite make out the center line. I've tried to show the marks clearly for your perusal. Polished top, patina'd underside. Looks to be late 19th century
We'll sneak this in as a "small" and ship it at no charge to our client.
This will not only put a smile on your face each time you look at it, but it's also sure to be the topic of many a conversation.
