Exceptional Georgian Bracelet, Late 18th Century

A centerpiece representing an exquisite bloom is set with foiled back Pink Topaz representing the petals surrounded with beautifully executed leaves. Beneath the leaves are trellis & tiny cannetille "rosettes" for an overall gorgeous presentation.

The bracelet itself is comprised of fancy Belcher links, each cut, punched and engraved by hand and soldered to the next.

The hidden tongue and groove clasp is a later replacement (probably Victorian era) and did not start off where we see it today. This is evidenced by the cut off piece of of what looks to my eyes would have been the original clasp. You can see it at the bottom in the last picture. It looks like it may have been in the opposite position, possibly worn another way entirely. The Belcher and clasp do seem right for each other and appear to be the same age and color although the clasp has at least 2, possibly 3 colors of gold in it. The back of the centerpiece is closed so we cannot see anything further but something was cut off by some jeweler at some point that I imagine was part of an original clasp. Was this a marriage? A restoration? I cannot say for certain, but what I can say is that it is Georgian - and it is gorgeous!

The centerpiece (clasp) measures 26mm x 22mm and has a depth of 4mm. The curved back leaves it sitting about 5mm up off the top of the wrist. The Belcher links measure approx 4mm thick each and the links are x 10mm wide north to south. Together, the bracelet length closes at just over 7.5" long.

CONDITION: the clasp is in exceptionally fine condition given its' age. Some of the links show age related wear. Two have had very early restorative work and two more should be tended to. Will these wear through in your lifetime? Probably not, but if we want to see this continue to go down more generations in history, at least the one 4th from the clasp should be dealt with - and if I were keeping it, I'd have 2 done. We can have it done for you, or will allow you the credit to have it done to your liking on by your own jeweler.

This is typically light weight with the bulk of it being the center flower. In all it weighs in at just over 18 grams by scale. No gold mark as expected but it has been carefully tested to 18K var. A very worn down Hallmark on the back of the flower cannot be deciphered but is shown in the photographs in case you should recognize it.

Condition has been considered in the pricing and a further credit for the restoration of the links can be negotiated unless we're doing the work for you.

An independent gemological appraisal is currently underway and will be provided for this piece.

Our fine jewelry is always beautifully presented and shipped at no charge to our clients.

Exquisite - and oh, so rare!
