A gorgeous pair of hand painted porcelain Opera Glasses are brilliantly enameled and embellished with raised gilt.
Starting with the ground - sheer layers of enameling in rich cobalt and lighter blues provide the ground for the centrally the 4 painted floral bouquets predominantly colored in bright pinks, purples and greens. Surrounding the flora are ovals of gem like beads of raised gilt enameling. To the top and bottom of the arms there are hand painted surrounds in the most brilliant silvered white. Dots of under-glaze gilt adorn the sides.
Mother of Pearl eye pieces. Closed these measure 2.5" x 4.5"
CONDITION: In overall fine antique condition, these do have a few age expected issues if you study them through magnification. No cracks, or losses of enamel - but there is slight age related wear to the "gem" beaded ovals mentioned for accuracy. Brass hardware has darkened. Lenses are very good quality with good magnification and they open and close as they should. Unmarked, these are definitely 19th century and the work of those unparalleled fine Sevres Enamelists.
Our fine antique smalls are always beautifully presented & ready for gift giving.
These will come in a satin lined black velvet drawstring pouch for toting around in your purse.
An incredible gift for the Collector - and also wonderfully useful.
