Boxed Open Salt Cellars - Sterling, c 1909 England

A fine suite comprised of 4 elegant open salt cellars complete with blue glass linings to keep the silver safe from corrosion and salt spoons comes in their original fitted box from Kemp & Wilcox Wolverhampton.

The salts stand on shell topped feet with nicely ruffled tops. Each original blue glass insert is well fitted to its' own vessel and removable for cleaning. (Custom crafted, these inserts are not interchangeable.) Stems of spoons follow with a complimentary flared shell stem.

CONDITION: Very fine antique condition with no damage to note. Each stands straight as it should. All inserts fit properly. No dints. Box remains intact though the exterior black shows some very slight age related fading. Interior is pristine in caramel brown cut out & fitted velvet bottom with elastic stays for the spoons. Corresponding padded satin interior lid gold stamped for Kemp & Wilcox. Box does not seem to close fully with the salts inside. I'm not certain why. There appears to be no warping and the box was custom crafted for these pieces. A mystery to me! All appropriate Hallmarks on each silver piece. London, circa 1909.

Our fine antique smalls are always shipped at no charge to our clients.

A beautiful set to grace the most discriminating table.
