A beautiful russet Agate is set within a very large seal atop of heavy mounted 14K gold ring.
This was an estate piece and I have no access to the history on it, nor have I come across another of like. It was probably a seal/fob converted to a ring - but if that is the case it was particularly well done because there's no tell tale evidence of the work. The ring was cleaned and polished when we received it so it's a mystery to me!
The mount is ornate as expected for a seal and the stone is a hand polished deep russet with encrustations and striations of deep moss. No shield or personalization but we will be happy to have your family crest or initials engraved on request.
The top of the ring measures 20mm north to south and 23mm (just shy of an inch) east to west. It rises 8mm up off the top of the finger. The mount measures 9mm at the top of the shank narrowing to 5mm at the underside. It currently sizes to 7 on the ring sizer - but fits smaller. My own ring finger is a 6/6.25 and it fits me perfectly! Because the fit is smaller than the actual size, I would hesitate to offer our usual complimentary sizing and recommend instead that you use a good bench jeweler in your area who can actually measure your finger before the work is done. We will allow a $75 sizing discount for you to take care of it yourself. (Discount applied to invoice.)
CONDITION: Very fine antique? condition with no damage and just the expected signs of historic wear. Markings: Part of a very worn hallmark (a face or an animal) which I cannot accurately decipher and only remains of other marks. Weight by scale: 16 grams. Tested to at least 14K but the piece has a 22K gilded bloom so it looks very rich. Hand polished. Origin and age are unknown.
Our fine jewelry is always beautifully presented and shipped at no charge to our clients.
Bold and dramatic - and what fun to actually use it to wax seal your letters with!
