Incredible Ceramic Owl Inkstand, - Art Nouveau, Austria

An impressive inkstand in the form of a wide-eyed Owl has expressive piercing glass eyes and a beautifully detailed body. Coloration is wonderful in glazed primary tones of iridescent greens with blue, pink & warm golden undertones.

The owl stands 7" high and is 9" wide. Removable glass ink pot is early - but likely a replacement.

PROVENANCE: Lillian Nassau Gallery, New York.

CONDITION: Very, very fine antique condition with no damage to note. Glass ink pot retains stains of historic use bearing remnants of colored inks (which is easily removable - and we will be happy to clean it upon request of our client.) A very fine example of the Art Nouveau period ceramics. A black painted signature is unknown to me, verso. Circa 1900-1910, Austria.

Our antique smalls are always beautifully packaged for safe international travel and shipped at no charge to our clients.

He is impressive, exquisite and those fabulous piercing glass eyes just follow you everywhere! A new true friend waiting to perch on the desk of the most discriminating collector!
