A wonderful triptych of mythological scenes is gossamer thin & large at 90mm high x 66mm wide.
The story begins above the clouds with the representation of Apollo the Sun God in his chariot, drawn by the four horses, Eous, Aethon, Phlegon & Pyroeis.
In the center is a landscape, a garden scene with two male and one female figure with a baby. A statuary, trees and a castle can be seen in the background.
Near the bottom of the cameo is perhaps the most powerful representation. Her eyes so piercing, expression daunting. An intriguing and fascinating cameo!
CONDITION: Remarkably fine with no damage, hairlines or even a growth line! The shell is thin (as evidenced in the verso photograph shot into the daylight.) Carved in medium relief. An appropriate simple and unadorned mount was hand forged and tested to 18K. Weight by scale: 28.6 grams. Large drop down bale on a swivel. Broaching assembly is riveted. *The original stick pin is bent and unless our client wants it removed altogether, it will be straightened by our jeweler before it leaves here.
This can certainly be worn on a chain (and probably best also pinned so it won't swing and run the risk of being damaged.) It also deserves to be exhibited in any collection. when not being worn!
