Huge Mythological Cameo Triptych
The story begins above the clouds with the representation of Apollo the Sun God in his chariot, drawn by the four horses, Eous, Aethon, Phlegon & Pyroeis.
In the center is a landscape garden scene with two male and a female figure with a baby. A statuary, trees and a castle can be seen in the background.
Near the bottom of the cameo is perhaps the most powerful representation. Her eyes so piercing, expression daunting. This cameo has me and everyone I've shown it to perplexed - and fascinated!
