Dating to the turn of the 20th century, a beautiful Double Albert chain with a wonderful heft at 59.9 grams (about 2 ounces.)
A classic curb link measuring approx 6mm in width throughout and closes at an unusually long 17". A matching 1" drop for the fob can be added to the length if you need 18". We don't often come upon these longer than 14-15 inches in length, so this is a nice find.
The chain came to us with a rather nice shield fob which I've left in place in case you want it - or we can remove it if you like them without fobs or already have a favorite you want to wear with it.
CONDITION: Very fine antique condition with just the age appropriate historic wear but no damage, loss - or replacement links to note. Hallmarks are worn but I can make out the anchor for Birmingham and of course the Lion Passant for sterling. Fob Marks differ from the chain itself and British from the same era.
Our fine jewelry comes beautifully presented and shipped with Tracking at no charge to our clients.
We see many Albert Chains around --- but fewer and fewer complete Double Alberts come to market that are long enough to be worn as a neck chain. This one has a particularly nice heft, width and length so if you've always wanted one, now may be your time!
