A very special little romantic piece, this well detailed Victorian brooch depicts 2 Swallows flying in the same direction beneath a knotted Lover's Heart. The knot trails to the sides and double wraps around the ends surrounding the birds. The feathered birds are textured yellow gold with polished faces while the outlining surrounds and are smooth, polished red gold.
A dimensional and impeccably well crafted piece, made possible by sculptural methodology of lost wax.
The pin measures 1.5" x .75" and retains its' original broaching assembly, c clasp and slightly extended pin.
CONDITION: Remarkably fine antique condition with no repairs to note. The brooch was created of separate pieces and compiled by solder in layers. Birds correctly exhibit lost wax holes as well as the tubing surrounds (all on the backside of the piece.) Broaching assembly remains tight and fully functional. A beautifully crafted piece. Markings: 9 Ct. 19th Century, British Colonies.
