Hematite & Marcasite Brooch, Art Deco - Sterling Silver

A pretty pin in the form of a forget-me-knot is collet set with 5 large faceted round Hematite gemstones encircled with tiny pyrites (marcasites) and representing the throat are 1 large surrounded by many tiny pave set marcasites.

The brooch measures 1 3/8" and typical of the period has a rhodium plated back to prevent silver staining of the clothing. Tube closure.

CONDITION: Very fine near antique condition with no losses or damage to note. It appears to be in all original condition with no repairs or replacements. A very tiny diamond shaped Hallmark cannot be deciphered with a 20X loupe - or captured by the camera. Weight by scale: 7.5 grams. Continental. Circa 1915-1920
