An impressive Dragonfly measuring 72mm in height with a wing span of 75mm (just under 3" x 3").
The wings are set with Plique au Jour semi translucent enamel in colors of cobalt and green with touches of pale orange. Each wing is collet set with 1 oval cut Emerald and delicately edged in drop set Old European cut Diamonds. The wings are 14K var green gold. Body and tail are silver topped and set with Diamonds that are a little larger. The eyes are comprised of bright green glass enamel and a single Diamond denotes the nose. The head, feet and the tip of the tail are all in pink/red gold.
Stickpin runs vertically and closes with a tube lock. Markings on the pin stem: 56 (Russian 14K var) next to a left facing woman's head.
CONDITION: Very fine with no damage or losses. Light historic wear is expected. Broaching assembly with shaped stickpin and tube closure remains fully functional.
According to an old appraisal that we received with the piece, there are 126 Diamonds weighing 1.25 carats total. The 4 Emeralds gauge 4mm x 3mm x 2.25mm for a carat weight of .72 carat.

According to the Markings this piece would date to pre 1917, but my thinking is that it is a little later than that.
